Component List Generator

UPDATE - 27 November 2003 (Thanksgiving Day) - Version 2.03 has been posted to this site as a download. There are a few changes, and I don't have the time (I'm deploying to Iraq on 7 December 2003) to create a new help file, so you'll have to keep up here. CLG Version 2.03 is compatable with the September 2003 version of EM0074, and can use either an SPBS-R or a PBUSE hand receipt file to select the pertinent Supply Catalogs. There is also a new checkbox on the introductory screen that allows you to change the default CD-ROM drive that's expected to be found by the application. Since I'm going to be deployed, and expect to find limited internet access in country, the support for this application will be limited. I've changed the email link to go to my AKO account. Should you find yourself in Iraq, look me up if you get the chance - I'll be in the Combat Service Support Automation Management Office of the 167th Corps Support Group, working with all our favorite STAMIS systems (including ULLS-S4)...

On possible means of support will be the LMR Customer Assistance Office... I know they're developing a lesson plan for using CLG (which I think is taught to the National Guard at Little Rock) as part of the unit supply course... The telephone number there is (888) 808-0901 or (888) 808-0918. If you're National Guard - try to attend the course at PEC  in Little Rock!
27 September 2003 - The more things change, the more they stay the same... At this time, we can expect ULLS-S4 to be around for a number of months/years...

31 March 2003 - Version 2.02 will work with any version of the EM0074 CD since April 2002. There are some changes to this version, all of which are transparent to the user, but are noticeable when downloading the files into ULLS-S4. At the suggestion of SFC Shauna Reese, I have estimated the page number in the SC where you'll find the item. The page number is in the nomeclature field, tacked onto the end of the nomeclature. You will find "pXXX" where the XXX is a page number. I don't guarantee it is perfectly accurate, I approximated it by using integer division on the item number (minus one) and adding one to the result. The page number should be right, if it's not, it's within one page of being correct. Other changes include increasing the max of the status bars, so it won't error out (a problem discovered by Mr. Toyooka in HI); the exclusion of any NSN that has an alphabetic character in it to prevent the overflow error; a routine to import shop sets by Line Number rather than NSN; and lastly, a check to ensure deleted items are not included in the MCL (a problem discovered by SGT(P) Holt). The entire application was recompiled in Windows 98 SE, and hopefully that will solve installation problems that have been intermittently reported. This application has been successfully installed in Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 environments.

23 March 2003 - I attended the LOGSA conference this past week, and was able to speak with Mr. Belanger, one of the individuals who work producing the EM0074. I was able to ascertain that PBUSE will have a direct pipeline from LOGSA on component items, and the component hand receipts in PBUSE will be maintained and updated via this pipeline. So basically, CLG will have outlived its usefulness with the fielding of the PBUSE unit supply module.

15 March 2003 - I haven't been very proactive in CLG lately... On 12 January I was notified by CASCOM that Ft. Lee had reviewed CLG and had decided they did NOT want to adopt it for Army use. The reason I was given was that PBUSE was going to be fielded in February 2003.

I changed jobs in July 2002. I'm now working for Logistics Management Resources (LMR), and not for the Maine Army National Guard. If you've emailed me, and I haven't responded, that's probably why... My ARNG email has been deactivated. I've changed the email links on this site to go to my home email. If you email me, please be patient... I am a CSSAMO, and am on the road constantly in the 94th RSC.

The EM0074 CD (Consolodated Publication of Components List) for September 2002 works just fine with CLG Version 2.01. Be aware as of 1 April 2002, the folks at LOGSA added a "reviewed date" on the Supply Catalogs (SC). This reviewed date is the last time a particular SC was reviewed by its proponent agency. For CLG, this means when you're importing the list into ULLS-S4, the publication date will look as though it's older than the date you have on your system. This is to be expected, and there's nothing wrong.

I've also added a couple more pages, notes (which are downloading/installation notes) and errors (which tell you the errors you get if you're running the wrong version of CLG with your copy of EM0074). Please read them if you have a problem. If it doesn't answer your question, then email me.

Oh... and a word about email... I get A LOT of email... I try to answer as many as I can, but sometimes, I don't have much to go on... I've gotten email that simply says "I can't git it to werk," which doesn't leave me with much to say... If you've got a problem, tell me if it's the installation, the program after it's installed, what error message you're getting, what version of Windows you're running... and then I can probably help...
